TRAVEL POLICY

 

The Queens Lake Band will take several trips throughout the school year. These trips are a privilege and are not mandatory. These trips include competitions, performances, etc. Please understand that students must earn the right to attend these trips through their hard work and behavior. Students are expected to represent York County and Queens Lake Middle School at all times in their conduct. They are also expected to follow all school board policies off the school campus when traveling with the band. Any student with disciplinary actions throughout the school year may not be allowed on trips including the spring trip. This includes excessive tardiness, in or out school suspensions, fighting, disobedience, cheating, etc. The band director and/or principals have the right to make the final decision. We are to set the example of what to do and not be the example of what not to do.

 

It is expected that if a student arrives at Queens Lake, leaves the school with the band, they are expected to be returned back at the school. If you would like to pick up your child from any band event or function while away from the school, please arrange it with the band director prior to the dismissal. Send a note into school prior to the date and get it signed by an administrator.

 

The spring trip for Festival Band will be held May 11, 2018. We are going to Kings Dominion. The estimated cost for the trip is around $110 per student. The band has several fundraising activities throughout the year. There will be a payment plan schedule that will be setup prior to the trip. It is imperative that payments are made throughout the school year to allow the travel agent to make payments throughout the months prior to the trip. Payments are due at every band parent meeting. Parents will be informed about the spring trip in detail prior to the trip. Many of the details will be discussed at band parent meetings. The spring trip is not mandatory, but students usually want to go because of the perks that are involved. Students who cannot follow all of the rules set forth by the director will be sent home at the parents’ or guardians’ expense. Also, we always need chaperones. Please volunteer to be a part, without you we could not take the students on a trip.

 

Again, the spring trip is discussed at all band parent meetings. If you would like the most current update please attend the meetings each month.
